Informa, the parent company of Health Insurance & Protection, was formed in 1998 by the merger of IBC Group plc and LLP plc, just two months after Health Insurance Magazine was launched by LLP plc.

However, the company’s publishing pedigree goes back almost 300 years with our sister title Lloyd’s List being one of the world’s oldest continuously running journals, providing shipping news since 1734.

Since 1998, Informa has grown to become a truly multinational business intelligence, academic publishing, knowledge and events company. Listed on the London Stock Exchange we are now a FTSE100 company with over 11,000 employees and offices in 43 countries.

Health Insurance Magazine was launched in 2003 and published until June 2013 when, after 170 print issues, we became a digital publication – the first Informa magazine title to do so – and we were renamed Health Insurance & Protection Daily.

In 2018, the Health Insurance Awards – the industry’s annual centrepiece – won not only the Best Long-standing Awards Event (15–25 Years) but the Best Overall Awards Event at the Award Awards, which is seen as the “Oscars” of the UK business to business awards industry.

In January 2019, we moved to Informa Connect, a dynamic events and digital publishing division of Informa, and in May 2019 the title was relaunched with a new website as Health Insurance & Protection – the first phase of an exciting three-year business plan.
